The best-laid plans…

Last night a skate session of epic proportions went down in Scottsdale, AZ. Legends, up-and-comers, supportive spectators & every level in-between were skating, mingling, hooting & heckling. Although there has been a relatively well established Thursday night skate crew rolling MMR for some time, this rather impromptu gathering was a somewhat last minute development.
I mentioned to one of the local rippers that we should rally a similar session for Goodyear in the near future. He pointed out, quite accurately, that sessions like this never seem to work with too much advanced planning. I’ve had similar discussions with several of my skate buddies lately.
It seems the days I head out to skate with big goals for myself turn out to be the days I do more sitting & socializing. The days I leave the house “not really feeling it” are often the days I learn a new trick or two.
The sessions I try to rally days in advance never seem to work out as planned, and then, within a few hours, an epic crew like the one that gathered last night, converges on a park.
There isn’t really anything I can do to change this phenomenon & I’m fine with that.
I guess the point I’m trying to make with all I this incessant babbling is one I’ve made before…
Take every chance you can to GET OUT AND SKATE!! (You can substitute whatever activity you are passionate about for “skate”) If you can’t muster the energy to do it for yourself, then do it for those that can’t. You never know when you’re going to roll up on your next epic session…
